Any suggestions or opinions for options once we've managed to cleanly receive kickoff ball (hoisting a Garryowen, spreading wide or going down the blind)?
Dave
All of those are viable options but I always ask players who, once we have recieved the ball from a kick off, is the oppositions best defender? They may take a while to come up with the answer and you can help them with points like%3A
It's a bit of fun and the answer is the touchline! If we go into touch the opposition get the throw and therefore possession back.
So the opposition will be trying to force us into touch and we should therefore think about first of all driving infield as this also opens up a possible blindside attack option.
The other options are not wrong but should be considered after the players have understood where the best defender is.
I hope that helps you a little,
Simon
